The Ionia Theatre and the Ionia Co Intermediate School District will be continuing the FREE Movie Program this year.  In our attempt to make this program run more efficiently we will be using a calendar/movie ticket that can be used each month.  The new ticket makes a great bookmark!  As you read each evening simply hole punch, check off, or initial the boxes on the outside of the film strip ticket below.  Then bring the ticket to the box office at the Ionia Theatre on the 3rd Saturday of the month.  Our goal is for every family to read at least 24 times each month!  We want to encourage all families that are trying to read together!  So please read as much as possible, mark the correct number of days and bring your ticket to the theatre regardless of the amount of times you were able to read.

Who can participate in the FREE Movie program?
The program was designed for elementary students, but anyone can participate!  Younger children that are unable to read can listen to books that are read by older siblings, parents, aunts, uncles, anyone!  Older students such as Middle and High School students can participate by reading to younger siblings, neighbors, any young child.

Who can I bring with me to the movies?
We believe that families consist of anyone in a child’s support system.  They do not have to live in the same house, or even be related.  Children can earn tickets for anyone that helps them with reading.  (Grandparents, Aunts & Uncles, Neighbors, Babysitters)

What if I don't have any good books to read?
We offer a free book exchange at every F.R.E.E. Movie.  Anyone can visit the table to pick out a book or two.  If possible, bring it back next time for someone else to read.  Besides books you can read recipes when you help with dinner, road signs while driving in a car, the newspaper, school newsletters, informative websites!  You can read anything with words!

What if I lost my ticket bookmark or forget to bring it with me?
Don't worry, we always have extra bookmarks at the theatre the day of the movie!  You can also print a new one by clicking on this link.

Volunteer Information:
The AmeriCorps Team that usually maintains this program will no longer be available.  Therefore the Ionia Theatre will rely on volunteers to run the concession stand and box office as they do for other movies.  It takes about 5 volunteers to fill all the positions!  Parents, grandparents, teachers, and other school staff, any adult can volunteer.  If you are interested in volunteering, please contact your school or Penny Beeman at the Ionia Theatre (527-3860).
